Frequently Asked Questions

You can often opt to get emails when someone posts in a discussion forum. This is called a subscription. For more on subscriptions see “Student Orientation, Tips and Tutorials” on the left side of your eLearning home page, and then select “Mastering your Class Email/Subscriptions.”

You can turn in your work in the designated Assignments areas of your course. Some instructors refer to the assignments area as the “dropbox.”

Online classes are available to students on the first day of the term. Students are able to access their courses for 10 business days after the official end of the term.

Final grades are posted to GGU4YOU by instructors usually 1-2 weeks after the term ends. Students view their grades on GGU4YOU.

To attach a file click on “Add”, then “Upload a File” then browse to the file you want to attached and click “Upload” and “Post to forum.”

An eLearning orientation and additional tips and tutorials are accessible online. You’ll find these informational areas located on the left-side of the eLearning website.

No, students cannot access the course before the first day of the term, however, while you wait for the first day you’re encouraged to take the Student Orientation that you’ll find on the left side of the eLearning site.

If it’s been more than 36 hours and you still see a dropped class please contact elearninghelp@ggu.edu, include your student ID number in the message, for assistance.

Make sure that the email you have on file in eLearning is current. Check to make sure your class email isn’t being blocked or diverted to a different folder (for instance the “Promotions” tab/folder in Gmail). 

Your email will need to be changed in 2 places within your GGU4YOU Profile. For instructions with screenshots please see “Student Orientation, Tips and Tutorials” on the left side of your eLearning home page, and then select “Changing your Email Address.”

In the “Administration” block of your online course, click on “My profile settings” and “Edit profile.” Scroll down to “User picture” and click on that. You can either drag and drop your profile image into the designated area, or you can select the icon that looks like a piece of paper with a “+” symbol to browse to your chosen image file. Each online class is different. Some classes have mostly text-based resources while some classes will have a lot of video or other media resources. All completely online courses require a great deal of interaction in the discussion forums. Proctored exams on campus are free. ProctorU and testing centers charge both charge fees for proctoring exams.  Whether an online class has a proctored exam(s) or not is up to the discretion of the instructor.

eLearning is Golden Gate University’s online learning platform. Golden Gate University has been offering online courses since the late 1990s. Students and instructors access eLearning by clicking on the eLearning tile on their MyGGU Dashboard.

Many courses that use eLearning will have quizzes or exams at some point during the term. Some classes have more exams and quizzes than other classes. A number of classes that are entirely online (classes that never meet in person) will have at least one proctored exam per term. Students have a 30-minute window in which to can edit their original discussion forum post. Faculty can change their forum posts at any time.
